Fiscal Note
The 2015 Fire Department capital budget includes $14,491,291 for the Fire Admin & Station No. 1 Remodel (MUNIS Project 10387). The total project cost is $15,756,925 and is funded through GO Borrowing and the proceeds from the sale of land. The proposed resolution will authorize a $108,000 sole source contract for a large format video wall and programming to existing equipment using remaining available funds in the Fire Admin & Station No. 1 Remodel project.

The City of Madison had Communications Engineering Company (CEC) as its primary provider/installer of Audio Visual equipment throughout Fire Station No. 1 and Administration building remodel and build out

WHEREAS, funding of $107,944.01 is available for this contract.

WHEREAS the original specifications did not satisfy the future needs and use(s) of the Command Center; and

WHEREAS the original project scope included a Professional Audio/Visual System which specifically included a Crestron Digital Media Switcher with input/output cards and miscellaneous hardware that controlled lighting, audio/video, microphones and remote conferencing; and

WHEREAS the system that was designed in the original specification, was not ordered in full and the value was added back to the project in the form of a credit, and the related equipment furnished in the Command Center was credited 100%; and

WHEREAS this contract meets section 4.26(4)(a)7, which provides that a contract may be approved without a competitive selection process if the contractor has performed similar services on this project in the past and it would be economical on the basis of time and money to retain the same firm; and

WHEREAS Facilities Management has sufficient remaining funds in the 2015 Capital Budget to design, engineer, ...
